The expanding/contracting while simultaneously twisting is called a jitterbug. This applies to the metaphysical as well as the physical. The movement and the objects performing the movement are considered one.

- Your heart is a jitterbug. When a heart is not beating it is NOT a jitterbug.
- The wringing out of a wet rag. When the rag is just laying around it is not a jitterbug. When it is being rung out you, the rag and the motion are a jitterbug. This is one example of synergetics.
